The Goal of Your Life #2

Setting a clear goal is the key of a success. As far as you know where to go, you can step forward confidently.

The clearer the goal is, the more confident your step will be each day, each moment. So, if you want a successful life, make the goal clear first. To find what it is, being true to yourself seems like the key.

Okay, step one – be yourself.

What does it mean?

The true you is the nature of you, so naturally it has been reflected all over your past life. By taking a closer look at your entire life, often what you really are becomes clearer.

First, write down the main incidents and events of your life.

For example, here is the history of my life:

◊ Elementary to Junior high school:

  • Experienced many representative and leader positions (the chief of class and student council, sub leader of a basketball team, etc)

◊ High school:

  • Started writing lyrics and playing in a music band

◊ University:

  • Chose linguistics/Japanese measure in a foreign language univ.
  • Best friend was the girl who was born in Japan yet grown up in Germany
  • Played music the most, performed in public

◊ 21~25 years old:

  • Worked for a health food manufacture, became the hub of sales and production departments
  • Experienced the bookkeeping, office management, marketing, production management, customer service, etc
  • Developed business skills including computer, communication, project management and marketing.

◊ 1997 (26 years old)~2011:

  • Left Japan and moved to Calgary, AB, Canada
  • Improved communication skills in English
  • Started working in landscape industry. Experienced installation, design and consultation
  • Married with a Japanese man
  • Got two children

◊ 2012:

  • Divorced
  • Moved to Digby, NS with the new partner and children

◊ 2013:

  • Partner got diagnosed with diabetes
  • Started own food-related business

Through this history, I come to some key words like leadership, international, management, communication and creativity.

Write down your own history and find the key words.

Please noted that at this stage you write down the facts only. You should write down the skills and knowledge you achieved at that time as far as it got the general recognition and/or it stays for the rest of your life.

After this, we go through our feelings and thoughts at each time.
